Dillon Francis & Martin Garrix
Set me free
Set Me Free brings together Dillon Francis and Martin Garrix on a track that blends electro house with a more playful and offbeat energy. Featured on Dillon Francis’ album Money Sucks, Friends Rule, the track stands out from Garrix’s usual festival sound, leaning into a more experimental and quirky direction.
Driven by a catchy vocal and a bouncy drop, Set Me Free plays with contrasts, mixing melodic elements with unexpected twists in the production. The collaboration reflects Dillon Francis’ signature style, slightly ironic and unpredictable,
while still keeping the impact needed for live performances.
The track achieved solid chart success, reaching number 1 on the Belgium Dance Bubbling Under chart in Flanders and peaking at number 24 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart in the United States.
Released one year later, the official music video takes a completely different direction from traditional EDM visuals. Built like a chaotic collage, it mixes kitsch graphics, cut-out sequences and absurd imagery in a deliberately exaggerated
style. The tone is both playful and satirical, with subtle references to American culture, mass entertainment and fan behavior.
Alongside the video, an interactive website was launched in the same spirit, featuring fake ads, random content and unusual links, extending the experience beyond the track itself. Edit: This video is now offline.
