Martin Garrix and Matisse & Sadko

Break Through the Silence

Released on July 13, 2015, Break Through the Silence follows Dragon, continuing the collaboration between Martin Garrix and Matisse & Sadko following Dragon.

Once again built as an instrumental, the track leans into a more emotional and progressive direction. The melody takes the lead, evolving slowly before opening into a powerful drop, creating that balance between tension and release that defines their sound together.

The official video picks up where the previous story left off. The night is over, and the main character drifts through the city, caught between memories and reality. What follows becomes more surreal, moving through moments of wandering, encounters, and confusion, until everything escalates into a chaotic and unexpected ending. The visual brings a darker, almost cinematic tone to the track.

Around that same period, an important shift is happening behind the scenes. A few weeks later, on August 26, 2015, Martin Garrix officially announces his departure from Spinnin’ Records and his management outside the US, after several years of collaboration, due to disagreements over the ownership of his music.

We were never meant to be quiet

I’m on the edge, gotta get away
I’ve seen it all before
I’m going down like a renegade
And I’m still begging for more

This is the last time I tell you to open your eyes
The city is sleeping, the monster’s outside
The fire is burning, there’s nowhere to hide
And I won’t say it anymore

Break through the silence
I can feel the energy rising
Turn up the sirens
We were never meant to be quiet

Break through the silence
I can feel the energy rising
Turn up the sirens
We were never meant to be quiet

There are lights that’ll lead the way
To what we’re searching for
A million miles from yesterday
And it’s right here on the floor

This is the last time I tell you to open your eyes
The city is sleeping, the monster’s outside
The fire is burning, there’s nowhere to hide
And I won’t say it anymore

Break through the silence
I can feel the energy rising
Turn up the sirens
We were never meant to be quiet

Break through the silence
I can feel the energy rising
Turn up the sirens
We were never meant to be quiet
