Martin Garrix & Moti

Virus

(How about now)

Virus (How About Now) sees Martin Garrix team up with MOTi on a track that leans into a darker and more aggressive side of his sound. Built around a heavy electro house structure, the track stands out with its sharp synths, distorted elements and a drop designed to feel raw and slightly chaotic, matching its title perfectly.

Released just days before Amsterdam Dance Event 2014, the track quickly gained attention, especially in the Netherlands and Belgium. It reached number 26 in the Dutch charts and number 34 on the Ultratop 50, confirming its strong regional impact at the time.

The concept extends into the official music video, where a “virus” spreads from one person to another through glitch-like visual distortions. The story follows a fast-paced chase, with agents trying to contain the infection as it jumps between hosts in a tense and almost cinematic sequence.

Several subtle references to Martin Garrix’s universe are hidden throughout the video. Among them, the “Error 404” code appears as a nod to his 2013 track, alongside brief flashes of live shows and a billboard featuring Martin, adding an extra layer for fans paying attention.

With its darker tone and distinctive sound design, Virus (How About Now) remains a unique entry in Garrix’s early catalog, showing his willingness at the time to experiment within the electro house framework while still delivering a track built for the stage.
