When Martin Garrix sends an early version of Don’t Look Down to his US-manager Scooter Braun, the moment takes an unexpected turn. Usher happens to be there, hears the track, and instantly connects with it. Within minutes, Garrix gets a FaceTime call. Usher wants to be on the song.
Not long after, they meet in the studio to finalize the track together. The result blends Garrix’s melodic production with Usher’s distinctive voice, creating something that stands apart from his previous releases.
Released on March 17, 2015, Don’t Look Down explores a more pop-oriented direction while keeping that emotional buildup and festival energy. It shows an early step in Garrix’s evolution, moving beyond pure big room into more vocal-driven tracks.
