After weeks of teasing, Martin Garrix finally unveils Catharina, a track that immediately stands apart. A softer, more personal direction that hints at what’s coming next.
For the past few weeks, Martin Garrix had been teasing Catharina, and the track is now finally here.
At the end of his Red Rocks show, Martin mentioned that he had “closed a chapter”, marking the end of a certain era. A new album, with a different sound, is expected later this year, and Catharina feels like the perfect starting point.
“oooooooh catharinaaaaa!!!! finally release day of a very very special song.. I’ve been overthinking it for quite some time but I feel super so proud to finally share it with the world. bear with me for a very exciting 2026 with lots of surprises ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for all the countless support as always” +x marty
The track leans into a calm and soothing atmosphere, carried by Martin’s own vocals as he reflects on life and nature. It’s a clear shift from the high-energy EDM sound, yet it works effortlessly. The video reinforces that feeling, with a nostalgic tone and stunning visuals shot in Madeira, where nature takes center stage.
On the songwriting side, Martin is joined by several contributors, including Bono from U2, with whom he previously worked on We Are the People.
As Garrixers, we know Martin has never been limited to one sound. Catharina proves it once again, in the same way projects like AREA21 or YTRAM once surprised us. It’s a track that feels like an escape, and a strong signal of what this next album could be.
We’re already looking forward to what’s next, but for now, it’s simple, Rewind and Repeat!
