On July 30, 2017, during his closing set at Tomorrowland, Martin Garrix premieres a brand new track. The crowd hears So Far Away for the first time, an emotional future bass track created together with David Guetta.
That night, the version played features vocals from Ellie Goulding, giving the song a very different tone. But in the months that follow, the track evolves. When it is officially released on December 1, 2017, the final version features Romy Dya on vocals.
The track keeps that strong emotional core, blending soft melodies with a more energetic drop, something that quickly made it stand out. It also reflects a rare collaboration between two of the biggest names in electronic music, bringing together different styles into one track.
So Far Away becomes a global hit during the winter of 2017-2018, reaching high positions across multiple countries and earning several gold certifications, including in Australia, Belgium, Canada and France. Over time, it remains one of the most recognizable collaborations between Martin Garrix and David Guetta.
