Martin Garrix returns with Smile, a track with a clean “feel good” pop and dance structure. For this release, he teams up with Carolina Liar.
The track was first introduced live during four sold-out shows at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. Carolina Liar joined Martin on stage for three performances, giving fans an early look at the song in a live setting before its official release.
Behind the scenes, the story of Smile is just as intense as the track itself. Written, recorded and filmed within a very short timeframe, the project came together in just a few days. From a recording session on the Sunset Strip to a road trip between Hollywood and Las Vegas for the music video, the process turned into a full experience. A vintage car breaking down in the desert, a race against time to make it back for the live shows, and a final stop in Las Vegas, all of it is part of what shaped the identity of the track.
It’s not the first time Martin Garrix and Carolina Liar have worked together. The two artists had already collaborated in the past on Hold On and Believe, a connection that makes this new release feel even more natural.
