Martin Garrix
Proxy
Proxy is a solo track by Martin Garrix, blending big room and electro house influences with a more melodic and progressive-driven structure compared to his harder festival releases.
Built around a bright synth progression and a more emotional drop, Proxy stands out for its uplifting atmosphere. It reveals another side of Garrix’s sound at the time, already hinting at the melodic direction he would continue to
develop in the following years.
The track was first made available as a free download on March 6, 2014, before receiving an official release on July 2, 2014. Proxy entered the Dutch charts, reaching position 89 in the Netherlands. While it remained a more low-key
release compared to his biggest hits, it quickly gained traction among fans and became a recognizable moment in his sets.
July 2014 marked a key turning point in Martin Garrix’s career. Alongside the release of his Gold Skies EP, he graduated from the Herman Brood Academy, a renowned music school in the Netherlands where he had been studying production.
This milestone symbolized the shift from training to full-time international artist, as his career was rapidly accelerating following the global success of
Animals.
