Martin Garrix feat. JVKE
Hero
Sometimes, a Garrix release lands outside the usual cycle. Not teased for months in sets, not shaped on festival stages, but built around a different kind of project. Hero is one of those.
Released on October 27, 2022, Hero is a collaboration between Martin Garrix and JVKE, created as the official anthem for the mobile game MARVEL SNAP. The track arrived alongside the global launch momentum of the game, developed by Second Dinner and published by Nuverse, in partnership with MARVEL Entertainment.
Rather than going for a classic festival structure, Hero explores a darker and more cinematic direction. The production leans into a mysterious, almost ominous atmosphere, driven by a steady, pumping rhythm. JVKE’s vocals sit at the center of the track, bringing an emotional layer that contrasts with the tension of the instrumental.
The release was accompanied by an animated music video, produced by the London-based studio The Line Animation. Inspired directly by the MARVEL SNAP universe, the video tells a parallel story of love and heartbreak. It follows JVKE navigating a personal moment, triggered by a simple message, “Can we talk?”, and drifting into a series of imagined sequences.

Throughout the video, iconic Marvel couples are used to mirror the emotional journey, including Spider-Man and Mary Jane, Storm and Black Panther, and Vision and Scarlet Witch. The narrative connects the ups and downs of relationships with the larger-than-life storytelling of the Marvel universe, giving the track a strong visual identity beyond the music itself.
Hero stands apart in Garrix’s discography. It’s not built for the drop-driven energy of his mainstage records, but instead focuses on mood, storytelling, and collaboration across industries. A track designed as much for a universe as for a playlist, showing once again how far his sound can stretch when the context changes.
“I’m super honored to be a part of this project. I love exploring new territories with my music, and I’m really excited the song is finally out today.”

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Can’t you see you’re not ready?
My arms are gettin’ heavy from the weight of the world
It’s up to me, and I’m gettin’ sweaty
Is it too much to hold?
A thousand voices whisper noise
They plan my fall from grace
Woah-oh, I know
Say you want a hero, you don’t
Say you want a saviour, pull you off the ground
Then you wanna blame me, when you’re fallin’ down
Woah-oh, I know
Don’t wanna be your hero, oh no
When’s it gonna sink in
That we’re sinkin’ and fallin’ apart?
‘Cause love don’t last in the dark
Can’t you see you got old?
You waited too long, and you let time go
Place your bets when it all comes down
Fold your cards, and you blame the house
A thousand voices whisper noise
They plan my fall from grace
Woah-oh, I know
Say you want a hero, you don’t
Say you want a saviour, pull you off the ground
Then you wanna blame me, when you’re fallin’ down
Woah-oh, I know
Don’t wanna be your hero, oh no
When’s it gonna sink in
That we’re sinkin’ and fallin’ apart?
‘Cause love don’t last in the dark
Woah-oh, woah-oh
Love don’t last in the dark
Woah-oh, woah-oh
Can’t you see you got old?
You waited too long, and you let time go
Place your bets when it all comes down
Fold your cards, and you blame the house
Woah-oh, I know
Say you want a hero, you don’t
Say you want a savior, pull you off the ground
Then you wanna blame me, when you’re fallin’ down
Woah-oh, I know
Don’t wanna be your hero, oh no
When’s it gonna sink in, that we’re sinkin’ and fallin’ apart?
‘Cause love don’t last in the dark
