Game Over

Martin Garrix released Game Over, a collaboration with Dutch producer Loopers, on April 20, 2018 through STMPD RCRDS. Returning to a purely instrumental format, the track explores a darker electro house sound built for festival and club environments.

Like many of Garrix’s productions, Game Over had already been tested extensively in live sets before its official release. Early versions of the track appeared in his shows from the summer of 2017, allowing him to refine the arrangement based on crowd reactions and his own experience behind the decks. By the time the final version arrived in spring 2018, the record had already become a recognizable moment in his performances.

The official music video adopts a minimalist black-and-white aesthetic. In the clip, Martin Garrix and Loopers face each other in a badminton match inside a stark studio environment. The fast-paced exchanges mirror the track’s sharp rhythms, with the music punctuating the movements of the game and reinforcing the tension of the duel.
