Back in 2004, during the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens, a young Martin Garrix watches Tiësto perform. He is eight years old, and that moment leaves a mark. Years later, the idea of working with him becomes a real goal.

In 2015, that goal becomes reality. The two artists team up on a track initially known as Voices, marking Garrix’s first official collaboration with one of his biggest inspirations.

Released on May 4, 2015, the track delivers a high-energy, uplifting sound, designed for both festival stages and a wider audience. It captures a meeting point between two generations of Dutch electronic music.

The official video mixes studio footage and live moments, filmed in Miami, showing both artists working together and performing. It adds a real behind-the-scenes feel to a collaboration that meant a lot for Garrix at that stage of his career.

The Only Way Is Up represents a full-circle moment, from being inspired by Tiësto as a kid to finally sharing a release together.
