Martin Garrix and Brooks
Byte
After exploring a more pop direction with In the Name of Love and Scared to Be Lonely, Martin Garrix switches things up in early 2017. On April 7, he releases Byte, a track that brings him straight back to a club-focused sound.
Premiered during his set at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, the track immediately stands out. No vocals, no build around lyrics, just a pure instrumental driven by energy. Built with Brooks, Byte blends future house elements with a
heavier festival drop, creating something both fresh and instantly effective live.
The official video, directed by Damian Karsznia, follows a minimal and graphic approach. Shot in black and white, it mixes digital elements like binary code, silhouettes, and flashes of live moments, along with Garrix’s signature logo.
Simple, direct, and made for the crowd, Byte marks a clear return to a more raw electronic sound, and remains one of the standout instrumentals of that period.
